Notes from Mrs. Jones

Welcome to my page! I'm hoping to put content on here to help direct students in continuous learning for the rest of the school year. My middle and high school students should expect to use Canvas to access their weekly assignments.  I'm just figuring out how to work everything so please be patient with me! If you click the "Useful Links" tab next to my name (under "User Pages" above) you can find a few key websites we'll be using. Students should be familiar with most of them. I miss your faces! Please stay safe and hang in there!

7th Grade ELA --
This week (April 14th) I'm going to try to hold a zoom conference with you this Tuesday and Wednesday at 8am both days, so you can watch "Huckleberry Finn" and take a test comparing it to the book on Thursday. Check Canvas for information on that, please, under announcements, assignments, and quizzes.

11th/12th Grade ELA --
This week (April 14th) I'm going to try to hold a zoom conference with you this Wednesday and Thursday at 9am both days, so you can watch "Bless Me, Ultima" and take a test comparing it to the book on Thursday. Check Canvas for information on that, please, under announcements, assignments, and quizzes.

8th Grade Health --
This week (April 14th) we'll be working on finishing the Chapter 13 Personal Health Care and Chapter 25 Noncommunicable Diseases packets I sent home with you. You can either do the paper packets and upload pictures of them to Canvas in the appropriate place, or I will have an online version of the packets that you can fill in completely online instead, under "Quizzes" on canvas. (That will be MUCH easier for me to grade so I would prefer doing them online if possible.) I know some of you don't have internet access though so you can also email me a photo of your completed work or have your parent send a picture to my phone. Let me know if you have issues.

Middle and High School Art-- This week (April 14th) we'll be finishing Baroque art, working on Renaissance art, and exploring Neoclassicism in art. I have provided a link on Canvas for you to research the era. Please upload your finished work to Artsonia. I sent home information on how you can login. Your parent will need to use the login code and ID to create a user login and password. Then you can upload your artwork yourself. If you download the free Artsonia app to your device, you should be able to upload from there. Please let me know if you need help--I'll put the classroom code on Canvas. Please see below for Artsonia tips.

Elementary Art -- This week (April 14th) the challenge is "shape". (Monday), create or take a photo of something with shape, geometric shapes on (Tuesday), organic shapes on (Wednesday), and something that looks like Fauvism on Thursday. See the link for  Fauvism Information. Please see below for Artsonia tips.

ARTSONIA TIPS

1. I sent home login slips in the student art notebooks to help parents login and give permission for students to use "classroom mode". Parents can login and upload artwork there for kids by finding the corresponding project. I have them labeled things such as "Elementary: Color" and "Middle and High School: Ancient Art".

2. If parents/high school students say "yes" to classroom mode, than I can send you a classroom code/QR code so that your student can upload artwork to their own class projects by finding their own name like they can in my regular classroom.

3. If you get a message that says "You're All Caught Up" and you can't upload anything, Artsonia said that this is the default page and to view and access your projects, they need to click the "projects" tab at the bottom.

Please let me know if you're having issues with Artsonia.
