Notes from Mrs. Jones

Welcome to my page! I'm hoping to put content on here to help direct students in continuing school online for the rest of the school year. My middle and high school students should expect to use https://canvas.instructure.com/login/ to access their weekly assignments.  I'm just figuring out how to work everything so please be patient with me! If you click the "Useful Links" tab next to my name (under "User Pages" above) you can find a few key websites we'll be using. Students should be familiar with most of them. I miss your faces! Please stay safe and hang in there!

7th Grade ELA --
This week (April 6th) I'm going to try to hold a zoom conference with you so you can watch "Huckleberry Finn" and take a test comparing it to the book on Thursday. Next week (April 13) we'll be working on the Communicable Diseases packet I sent home with you. Log onto Canvas for further instructions.

11th/12th Grade ELA --
This week (April 6th)
I'm going to try to hold a zoom conference with you so you can watch "Bless Me, Ultima" and take a test comparing it to the book on Thursday. Next week (April 13) we'll be working on the Communicable Diseases packet I sent home with you. Log onto Canvas for further instructions.

8th Grade Health --
This week (April 6th) we'll be working on the Chapter 23 Communicable Diseases packet I sent home with you, and next week (April 13) we'll be working on the Chapter 13 packet. You can either do the paper packets and upload pictures of them to Canvas in the appropriate place, or I will be trying to make an online version of the packets that you can fill in completely online instead. (That will be MUCH easier for me to grade so I would prefer doing them online if possible.) I know some of you don't have internet access though so you can also email me a photo of your completed work or have your parent send a picture to my phone. Let me know if you have issues.

Middle and High School Art-- This week (April 6th) we are starting a unit on Art History since we missed out on our Art History Fair. Each week we will research certain periods in Art History. Then your job will be to draw/paint/photograph/create something emulating the styles of that period. We are starting with Ancient Art. Feel free to do some chalk drawings or rock paintings around your house to emulate this period. Next week (April 13th) we'll be starting Medieval Art. I have provided a link on Canvas for you to research the era. Please upload your finished work to Artsonia. I sent home information on how you can login. Your parent will need to use the login code and ID to create a user login and password. Then you can upload your artwork yourself. If you download the free Artsonia app to your device, you should be able to upload from there. Please let me know if you need help.

Elementary Art -- This week (April 6th) you have an optional challenge every day! I sent home some art assignments you can do if you like. This week I challenge you to create something or take a photo of something that has a lot of color on Monday, warm colors specifically, on Tuesday, cool colors on Wednesday, and pastel colors on Thursday. Please upload your finished work to Artsonia. I sent home information on how you can login. Your parent will need to use the login code and ID to create a user login and password. Then you can upload your artwork yourself. If you download the free Artsonia app to your device, you should be able to upload from there. Please let me know if you need help. Next week (April 13th) the challenge is shape. Monday, create or take a photo of something with shape, geometric shapes on Tuesday, organic shapes on Wednesday, and something that looks like Fauvism on Thursday. See the link for information on Fauvism. http://www.henri-matisse.net/cut_outs.html
